Sundresses and Shades Service Award

2024 Kathryn Baker – Salute Services – Donation TBD

Salute Services’ mission is a simple one:  to enrich the lives of veterans and their caregivers by streamlining the support and resources needed to transition to a healthy civilian lifestyle within the 1st three years after serving (and beyond)! We work with each client individually so they may be successful throughout all aspects of life following their military separation or retirement. It is our goal and vision to be the first-choice ally of military veterans and their caregivers by positively impacting the veteran experience by enhancing the transitioning process and streamlining available resources in home, health and career.

2023 Cortaiga Collins- Show me Family Zone – $1000 donation

Designed by the midtown St. Louis architectural firm JEMA, the Show Me Family Zone is funded by donations, bank financing and grants from government and private entities. Collins says the project was inspired by the success of New York’s Harlem Children’s Zone and North Carolina’s Durham Children’s Initiative.

Development is divided into phases: Projects in Phase I include establishing the area’s first all-male early childhood center – a $1 million project to address the unique needs of boys from low-income homes. Sixty students are already enrolled, and the center has a waiting list of more than 100 children.
